2025 Tasmanian Junior Chess Championships

Black Square Chess' 5th ever Tasmanian Junior Chess Championships was played on the 27th and 28th of September, 2025. With State Titles, National Qualification and Prize Money up for grabs, it was our most competitive version of the event yet!

The field was split into 3 different divisions: Under 8 + 10, Under 12 and Under 14 + 16 + 18. 

Prize Winners were as follows: 

Under 8 Champion: Nikita Yemtsov

Girls Champion: Louise Nguyen

Under 10 Champion: Bevin Jayathilake

Girls Champion: Zoe Meredith

Under 12 Champion: Le Nguyen

Girls Champion: Mary Khodjaeva

Under 14 Champion: Jethro Sih

Girls Champion: Jessica Hu

Under 16 Champion: Esteban Prieto

Under 18 Champion: Himash Keerthiratne
