2026 Tasmanian Junior Rapid Championship

Our premier Rapid Chess Event for 2026, the Tasmanian Junior Rapid Championships!

Where: Sacred Heart College, Pedder Street, Hobart

When: Sunday 5th of July

Competition Divisions: 
• Under-18 Open: Year of birth 2008 or after

• Under-16: Year of birth 2010 or after

• Under-14: Year of birth 2012 or after

• Under-12 Open: Year of birth 2014 or after

• Under-10: Year of birth 2016 or after

• Under-8: Year of birth 2018 or after

• Under-18 Girls: Year of birth 2008 or after

• Under-12 Girls: Year of birth 2014 or after

Prizes will be for each best individual in all of U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. 

***Note: Players can play up in divisions if they would like, but prior approval from organizers will need to be granted. 

As games will be rapid, no notation is required from players. 

Time Control: 10 minutes + 5 seconds per move. 

Schedule: 

Sunday the 5th of July: 

Registration: 9:30am

(Please note, if you have not registered before 9:30am, you will incur a half-point bye for round 1)

Welcome: 9:45am

Round 1: 10:00am

Round 2: 10:45pm

Round 3: 11:30pm

Round 4: 12:15pm

Lunch Break

Round 5: 2:00pm

Round 6: 2:45pm

Round 7: 3:30pm

Prize giving to be held as close to 4:00pm as possible.
